5 NATURAL WAYS FOR YOUR HOME TO SMELL GOOD IN SUMMER
- MAKE NATURAL ROOM SPRAY
Room sprays are very easy DIY. Fill a spray bottle with 1 cup of distilled water and add a dozen drops of your favorite essential oil. Citrus and lavender will become your favorite for summers. Or mix 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of vodka to make the scent last longer. Mist your sheets or in the air to make any room feel summery.
- USE FRESH COFFEE
If you’re a coffee fan, you can create a bit of a Starbucks feel at home with coffee grounds. Fill a small bowl with fresh or used grounds and leave it on the counter for a coffeehouse aroma. And if you’ve let CSA produce go bad in the refrigerator you can eliminate foul odors by leaving coffee grounds in the fridge overnight.
- SCENT UP REQUIRED PLACES
Do you know the ubiquitous candle in the bathroom? Replace it in summer with a few drops of essential oil inside the toilet paper roll. Sweet orange, lemongrass or clary sage freshen the bathroom nicely.
- PREPARE A FRESH HERB BOUQUET LIKE FRAGRANCE
If you have herbs plants that are, well, growing like weeds use the clippings to add a fresh fragrance to the fridge or kitchen. I store my basil plant cuttings in a glass of water, and the smell is divine. Change out the water daily.
- HANG A SOLID FRAGRANCE
Not only are these wax sachets pretty to look at, but the smell is perfect for summer (not too much, not too little). This honeysuckle scent sounds perfect!
Apply these pro tips to get the best cooling effects this summer and enjoy in the freshness of your homes.
