7 Tips to Decorate your Patio this Christmas

December 16, 2016

We all look forward to Christmas to decorate our homes. Every year we buy new ornaments to decorate not just the Christmas tree, but each and every room, doors and even windows. Since first impression is always the best impression the patio is given a lot more attention because it is what your guests see the moment they step into your home. We give you a few tips to decorate your patio and make it the envy of all your guests.

Decorate your Patio this Christmas

  1. Lights, lights everywhere

No decoration is complete without bright lights. They scream festive cheer. Decorate your patio with fairy lights. You can wrap the patio posts or outline the front facing windows or you can deck the entire patio with lights, and it will look welcoming.

  1. Green and red are the colours of the season

Christmas wreaths symbolize strength and that is the reason why we see wreaths adorning the front doors this festive season. Select a wreath in red and green combination for your patio. The bigger, the better.

  1. Hang puny poinsettia

Hang artificial poinsettia plants on the patio window. You can create a floral arrangement by placing poinsettias in decorative flower pots. They will bring a splash of festive red and green and will look great on your patio.

  1. Welcoming doormats

In the overall Christmas decor a doormat may be seen as an irrelevant feature. However, a welcome mat in Christmas theme will be a beautiful and practical addition to your patio. For instance, Christmas mat in the patio offers a touch of colour and will add more vibrancy to the entire decor. You can also keep your house clean by using a Christmas mat since the visitors will be able to wipe their feet before entering your home. Choose a sturdy mat with Christmas colours and themes.

  1. Decorate with evergreen garlands

Wrap pine garland and top them off with red bows around handrails, pillars, and posts. You can even add fairy lights on them or top them off with festive red bows. For a classic look drape garland from underneath the patio ceiling and on the railing.

  1. Christmas staples

If you have a swing or some type of seat on your patio, decorate them with throw pillows with Christmas covers. They will look inviting. You can also place a stuffed Santa Claus or a reindeer to add a bit of fancy to your patio decor. If there is a chalkboard surface write a welcome message. It will add a personal touch to the space.

  1. Let the snow fall

Add fake snow or place a snow shovel on the patio for a bit of fun. You can even add spray snow to the windows. You can also hang or tape snowflakes to the patio door or windows for a magical look. They are really pretty and come in different shapes.
